AbstractThis session looks at the artistic legacy of Rome, Ravenna, and Jerusalem and considers their enduring influence on the art, architecture, and material culture of early medieval England. Using art historical analyses, this session questions the impacts, both physical and symbolic, of these Christian centres in the construction of early Christian iconographies.
