AbstractIn these two sessions, art historians explore iconographic themes related to the concept of the Other; in a religious, ethnic, or moral sense. We explore the iconographic markers that identify persons as beloning to the 'mainstream' or to the rejected, the subculture, the infidels, or the ugly. The session covers artworks from the high and late Middle Ages, and includes images from a variety of media.
