AbstractPapers in this session focus on mapping two of the most important late medieval German imperial towns. Paper -a sheds light on the digital research being done on Nürnberg's medieval manuscripts and buildings to understand the city's fortifications as well as what lay inside them. Paper -b focuses on Frankfurt am Main and the 14th-century cleric, Baldemar of Petterweil, whose systematic survey of the streets, lanes, and alleys of his town provides insights into how a medieval city map could be imagined.
