AbstractThis session will explore the (alleged) dichotomies between the mundane and the transcendental within the diversity of religious life and experiences in the Low Countries during the Late Medieval period. It focusses on proxemic signs within the Celebration of the Eucharist as prescribed by late medieval Libri Ordinarii, and on their role within its meaning-making process. Within the Devotio Moderna, changing lines are drawn between the position of women and laity.
